This week was a very busy one for the Coordinated Campaign! On Tuesday, nearly 100 Democrats attended our 40 for 40 Youth Outreach Kick-Off event at Cafe 4212. District Clerk Loren Jackson energized the crowd speaking to the importance of early voting and voting a straight Democratic ticket.
Wednesday, Natalie Rovira, our Precinct Chair Coordinator, hosted the “Last Call for 50 for Victory Training” at party headquarters. This wraps up the first stage of our 50 for Victory training program. We are excited to have over 200 Precinct Chairs participating in the program. We’ve already seen some success and expect to see the full results of the program as the numbers roll in on election night.
Tuesday evening, the Harris County Democratic Party held its last County Executive Committee meeting before election day. Resolutions were passed, including ones in favor of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act and repealing Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. Chair Birnberg gave an update on the accommodations being made by the County for the election in light of the recent fire which destroyed all of Harris County’s election machines, a large portion of which will be replaced (with equipment borrowed from other counties) by election day. Natalie Rovira presented a timeline of activities for Precinct Chairs to undertake between now and election day.
On Saturday, Sheriff Adrian Garcia, along with candidate for State Representative in House District 132, Sylvia Mintz, and candidate for Congressional District 10, Ted Ankrum, spoke to a packed house at an Open House at our Katy Satellite Campaign Office. The Sheriff urged all of the attendees to make full use of the satellite offices to stage block walks, phone bank, distribute literature distribution, and engage in other Get Out the Vote activities.
