Catching Up with the Coordinated Campaign | Week of 8/2 – 8/8

Thanks for checking in with the Harris County Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign and getting an inside look at what we have been up to. Through this weekly update we hope to give you insight into the various things we are doing to ensure that Harris County turns blue this November.

This week, the Coordinated Campaign focused on voter outreach efforts, through events like White Linen Night in the Heights, and we continued our efforts in training precinct chairs, as we hosted four trainings and assisted with the Senate District 15 phonebank. Additionally, we are gearing up to reach voters across Harris County by securing locations and preparing to open ten satellite campaign offices.

On Monday, the Coordinated Campaign secured locations for our East End office (House District 143), Midtown office (House District 147), and Katy office (House District 132). As you can tell from the pictures below, they are currenlty empty spaces that need to be filled with basic furniture and supplies like computers, desks, chairs, etc…, as well as volunteers If you or anyone you know are willing to donate equipment or supplies to the Coordinated Campaign so we can equip these offices as soon as possible, please email Steven David at steven@hcdp.org. Don’t forget to save August 14th as we host the grand opening of our Pasadena Office (House District 144) at 3800 Spencer Road, Pasadena, TX from 9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, we hosted three different precinct chair VAN trainings across Harris County. In these trainings, precinct chairs commit to our 50 for Victory Program and we train them on the tools we have available to them and they will need to succeed in this campaign. If you are a precinct chair or wish to participate in this program by contacting prospective Democratic voters in your neighborhood, and have not attended one of these trainings, you can find one in your neighborhood by clicking here.

On Wednesday, we celebrated President Obama’s 49th birthday by participating and hosting a “Pledge to Vote” phonebank at our headquarters and by joining the Harris County Young Democrats’ for their monthly Happy Hour at Brian O’Neils. Our Chair, Gerry Birnberg spoke about the importance of getting out the vote and specifically all that the Coordinated Campaign will do to ensure a Democratic victory in November. Then, Representative Garnet Coleman spoke about the importance of targeting youth voters this cycle. The HCYD’s have gone above and beyond this campaign season by committing to contact 10,000 “surge voters” and getting them to vote this November. If you are interested in getting involved and helping out this campaign season, contact Sarah Hirsch at sarah@hcdp.org.

On Thursday night, Democrats turned out in abundance for  Judge Dion Ramos’ birthday party. Our judicial candidates are also working hard to get out the vote by participating in our judicial candidates program, which gives them access to our unique calendar of events, among other functions. We continue to feature our candidates on our website so that voters will hear from them directly. If you are a judicial candidate and want to know how to gain access to these tools, contact Stephanie Cochran at stephanie@hcdp.org.

On Saturday, we hosted Senate District 15 precinct chairs at the HCDP headquarters as they continued making phone calls to their “surge voters.” Later on Saturday night we were a part of the White Linen Night in the Heights. It was good to see so many of our candidates, up and down the ballot, out there, talking to voters, registering voters and being highly visible to the historic Heights community. This festival drew over 20,000 people.
