Democrats Celebrate Ed Watson’s 90th Birthday
On Sunday, July 19, more than 300 Democrats turned out to honor former State Representative, Ed Watson, one of Texas’ finest Democrats, on the occasion of his 90th birthday. Numerous elected officials, family members, candidates, and friends showed up to participate in this lively and festive event paying homage to the man from Deer Park many call “Papa.”
County Commissioner Sylvia Garcia presided over the program and Lt. Governor candidate Linda Chavez-Thompson, who has known and worked with Ed for nearly four decades, gave a rousing key-note address. Multiple proclamations were presented commending Ed’s great service to the state and the community. In his remarks, Rep. Watson implored everyone to “go to the polls in November and vote the straight ‘D’ ticket.
The Harris County Democratic Party is proud to join so many others from across the county and the state in paying tribute to this life-long, long-time staunch, hard-working, and hard-fighting Democrat.
